Wales gets high-speed internet from space.
28 July 2010 - Households and businesses in even the remotest areas of Wales can receive broadband with download speeds of up to 4Mb/s now, thanks to a funding scheme announced by the Welsh Assembly and innovative satellite technology from SES ASTRA.

Luxembourg, 30 June 2010. – SES ASTRA, an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG), announced today that it has signed an agreement with the French WIMAX operator Wibox for the distribution of its satellite-based broadband service ASTRA2Connect. Wibox will offer SES ASTRA’s broadband access to end customers, small and home offices as well as small and medium enterprises especially in regions without terrestrial networks. The marketing will begin in July 2010.
